Mr. & Mrs. Mistletoe by Christopher Radko is now here! (Along with a plethora of other fabulous pieces.) Christopher Radko ornaments are some of the most beautiful ornaments in the world. They are Polish handmade blown glass, but by comparison to similarly made ornaments, they are much larger, brighter, and more detailed.
The elves at The Christmas Shoppe love hearing tales from our shoppers about Christmas’s past. Occasionally, we hear sad tales, including a few about trees falling over and precious ornaments being broken. Ironically, this story is exactly what lead to the Christopher Radko ornaments being created.
Many years ago, the Radko family’s Christmas tree fell over destroying over 1,000 vintage blown glass ornaments. Christopher promised his family he would replace them but soon discovered that it is incredibly rare to find an exact replacement of antique (or even modern) ornaments.
The story goes that, while on a business trip in Europe, Christopher met some Polish glassblowers and asked them if they could reproduce the ornaments from drawings made from his memory. The glassblowers wanted to make extras to sell to the public to make the endeavor worth their while financially. The ornaments sold were so popular that the glassblowers asked Christopher Radko to continue designing ornaments. The rest is Christmas magic history.
